Niger Delta Diocese Partner Police On Security, Charges Rivers Command To Be Strong – Willed …As CP Enjoined Anglicans On Crusades On Crime Reduction

Rivers State Command of the Nigeria Police has been charged to be strong and never be weary in her plans to repositioning Rivers State inspite of the daunting challenges prevalent in communities of the state.

The Anglican Bishop of the Diocese of the Niger Delta, Rt. Rev. Ralph Cornelius Ebirien while commending the State Commissioner of Police, Chris Ejike, on his plans to reposition the State during a courtesy visit on the Police CP handed the charge, said they were in the CP’s office to partner and to encourage him on the task.

Bishop Ralph Ebirien, who admonished the Police Boss to be courageous in his plans to rid the state off criminals and insecurity took his text from the book of II Chronicles chapter 15, said the CP shall be adequately rewarded for his good gestures while assuring the command of the Church’s partnership in repositioning the state, adding that it is a team work which the Police and government alone cannot do but in collaboration with the Church.

The Diocesan, however, told the CP that they were in the office to encourage and to partner with the command on the need to repositioning the state.

The Diocese of Niger Delta also used the occasion to inform, educate and invites the Commissioner of Police Chris Ejike, to her 2015 Annual Sunday School Conference holding from Wednesday

9th through Sunday 13th September, 2015 at the Civic Centre and

Solicits for the CP’s cooperation and deployment of security men to the venue of the conference.

Educating the CP on scope of the 2015 Sunday School Conference, the deputy Diocesan Registrar Sir, Barr. Ishmael Bâningo who- is also the special Assistant to deputyGovernor on legal Matters said the seriousness of the conference would attract between five to seven thousand attendees across the state, would have Rt. Rev. Rt. Revd. Prof. Dapo Asaju- Bishop Theologian, and Archbishop/Bishop of the Province/Diocese of J05, Most Revd. Dr. Benjamin A. Kwashi, as guest speakers.

Responding, the Rivers State Police boss, Chris Ejilce, who thanked the Anglican bishop for the visit reiterated that the Police is resolute, brave and strong willed to brace up to the security challenges in the state, saying that there is reduction in crime rate

in the state presently against what was obtainable in the past two months and explained that the command would allow truth to prevail in leading the state, pointing out the case of one who was shot dead and the command rose to the situation.

Meanwhile, Mr. Ejike has appeal to the Bishop and the church to lead the crusade on social re-engineering which according to him is the answer to the return of peace needed in the state, adding that it is time for all, especially the church to take up responsibilities aimed at restoring peace in the society and request to address the clergy in such a meeting that would be convened by the bishop.

On the corning 2015 Sunday School Conference, the Rivers Police boss said the command has taken cognizance of the event and acted accordingly, promising. Police security and coverage of the entire programme while asserting that leadership is not only a cross but also a burden to bear for the good of the people while applauding Bishop Ralph for his contribution in moving the state forward.

Highlights of the event were exchange of gifts by the Police Command and the Diocese of Niger Delta.

Dignitaries ‘at the event, were DCP Austin Agbon Lahor, DCP, Francis Mobolayi; ACP, Mary George; DSP Ahmed Mohammed the’ State PPRO, and Rev. Fr. David Akobi the Police Chaplain. Others were Ven. Amavey Christian Abbey-Kalio, Diocesan Synod Secretary and Vicar St. Cyprian’s Church Port Harcourt; Sir, Barr. Ishmael Baningo, Deputy Registrar of the Diocese; Sir, Barr. Somiari Paul- Clerical Secretary’ of the Diocese and Sir, Engr. Francis Nemieboko, Chairman Diocesan Sunday School Council.

The long list also included Rev. Can. Vincent B. Igu, the Sunday school Chaplain; Dr. (Mrs.) Margaret Hart a retired CP and adviser to the Bishop on Security Matters; Dame Lizzy Fombo, the Diocesan Communicator and James Mgboineme a member of LAMP. ###
