Wike Flaggs Off Construction of Oro-Igwe, Elimgbu Roads

The long abandoned Oro-Igwe Road linking Elimgbu, Rumuewhara-Rumundur, Eliozu Roads in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State will soon be attractive as Barr. Nyesom Wike, the governor of River has flagged off the construction of the road.
Performing the ground breaking ceremony at Eliozu junction Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State on Tuesday 11th August, 2015, Gov. Wike who decried long abandonment of construction of the road by successive administration in the past due to political reasons, noted that such has caused hardship and suffering on the residents of the area stressing that the era of politics on the life of the citizens of the area is over.
According to him, “as you have given us your mandate to pilot the affairs of the state, my administration will reciprocate by constructing the road and other things you requested will be given to you as the administration progresses”.
He assured residents of the area that the road that linked Eneka will be completed in the 18th months and urged the residents of the communities to cooperate with the CTC Construction Company limited handling the project to facilitate the work.
Wike further enjoined the company to assist the indigenes of the area by employing them.
Hon. Martin Amaewhule, a lawmaker representing Obio/Akpor Constituency I in the Rivers State House of Assembly and the leaders of the House who is also an indigene of the area while commending governor Wike’s intervention in the construction of the roads noted that Governor Wike has wiped away the suffering of the people of Oro-Igwe and other communities.
According to him previous administrations have promised to construct the road without fulfilling their promises thanked Wike for a job well done.
He further thanked God for the good weather and prayed that God should protect and give Wike the wisdom to pilot administer the State effectively.
Chief Collins Ewhulu, a community leader expressed his gratitude to Wike for his intervention after being abandoned by successive administrations for a long period.
According to him several administrations have promised without fulfillment even the NDDC promised to construct the road but could not do it, this is a day we have been waiting for and God has answered our prayers”.
In his contribution, Sir. Cyril Amaewhule who expressed joy for the flag off of the construction of road which has been abandoned for years commended Wike for the gesture.
According to him the road has been abandoned by previous administrations after promising to construct the road, but failed in their promises.
He expressed optimism that the construction company which he believes has track records in their previous works will do excellent work.
Similarly, Mr. Glory Ejekwu, the president of Eliozu Youths described the day as the best day in the history of Oro-Igwe town.
According to him, we have suffered a lot in the past, many politicians came to campaign here in the past without fulfilling their promises but Wike’s campaign has brought changes in the past two months.”
Others who spoke with journalists at the ceremony HRH Ezemekaka Wobo the Paramount Ruler of Elimbu, HRH Eze Amb. I.J Woko the Eze Ozuzu II of Eliozu, Prince Goddy Worlu among others expressed gratitude to Wike for the flag off construction of the road describing him as the one that has broken the hard luck of the community and promised to ensure security in the area to actualize the completion of the roads within a short period. ###
