Gov Sylva Bags Shepherd Corps Award

The Executive Governor of Bayelsa State Chief Timipre Sylva was recently inducted as the founding Grand Shepherd General of the Shepherd Corps of Nigeria (SCON) at Grace Dynasty Ministry, Opolo, in Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.

 

The ceremony was used to flag off the programme tagged, “Catch Them Young for Christ”.

 

Governor Sylva advised the children to imbibe societal norms through hard work and dedication and urged them to know God and live by God’s divine faith.

 

The Governor, while making his remark soon after the induction, read from the Book of Ezekiel 34: 10-19, stating that it was a unique day and thanked the shepherd corps for the kind gesture, pledging to do his best to support the organization.

 

The Governor described Mr. Alphaeus Ayebaemi the founder, as a dynamic leader and expressed his appreciation for the organization.

 

 Also speaking, the General Overseer of the Grace Dynasty Ministry, Pastor S.S. Peter, urged the children to study the Bible and prepare to be future leaders of tomorrow with sound Christian background.

 

He thanked Gov. Sylva for his various developmental projects and also for honouring the invitation.

 

The Chairman, Board of Trustees and former Secretary to old Rivers State Government, chief Sampson Orji Agbaru, also appreciated Governor Sylva for his kind gesture and appealed to him to support the project. He tasked the children to be very serious in their life endeavours.

 

In his own speech, the state Chairman of (SCON). Mrs I.L. Amasemogha, said  the tenets of the organization include the preaching of the gospel of Christ.

 

Mrs Amasemogha who is a commissioner in the Civil Service Commission of  Bayelsa state, enumerated several problems of the corps such as funding, accommodation and logistics.

 

The ceremony was attended by top Government functionaries.####
