N130m Was Not Paid Into Our Account – Minama Community Trust

The Minama Community Trust in the Asari-Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State said that there was no time a sum of one hundred and thirty million naira (N130,000,000) was paid into its account.

This was contained in a comprehensive financial report from June 2007-2011 presented to the Minama community on Monday at Buguma, headquarters of the council.

The presentation of the account was in compliance to the judgment on Suit No. PHC/461/2012 delivered on 22nd July, 2015. Hundred of Minama indigenes were present during the presentation of the account.

The Comprehensive Minama Community Trust Financial Report which was signed by HRH, Iboroma T. Pokubo, Chairman and Chief Sydney George, Secretary, revealed that “from 2007-2011, a total of N115,000,000.00 was due to the Minama Community. Of the said amount N112, 714,163.81 has been tied to the various projects and activities in Minama. Out of this total, the sum of N109,162,079.81 has been paid out for various projects, while N3,552,084.00 has been allocated to ongoing projects and activities”.

The Minama Community Trust listed series of projects it embarked on and completed which include: scholarship scheme, construction of modern town hall, skills acquisition, micro finance credit scheme, transport to wealth scheme amongst other laudable projects.

The report further revealed that a Project Implementation Committee, PIC, was created to monitor/execute satellite communities. In the Minama community the PIC members are Chief Dimkpa Iyibo Bekinbo, chairman, Chief Tamunosaki Dokubo, Secretary and three others.

The report had it that a total of N15,000,000 was due to Elem Minama, PIC from 2007-2011. “Out of this total, the sum of N5,973,891 has been paid to Bensaki Marine Services (contractor) for Elem Minama Guest House project, which total cost is N8,534,130. The project has not been completed by the contractor”.

While addressing journalists the Amanyanabo of the community, HRH Iboroma T. Pokubo gave reason while the statement of the account was rendered in Buguma Community, saying that Minama is not safe for such an exercise.

It would be recalled that two weeks ago, a youngman was brutally murdered in the Minama community. ###
