Badminton Veteran Appeals For RSG Support To Excel

For the game of badminton to stay afloat, the chairman of Rivers State Badminton Veterans and Professionals Civic Centre, Musa Dahiru Doma has appealed for the Rivers State government support to keep the game afloat.

Doma made this appeal while speaking with The Newswriter sports at the badminton training hall at Alfred Diette Spiff stadium.

He revealed that Badminton is one of Rivers State key points as the sport had always brought in Gold medal confirming authoritatively the proud veteran said, Rivers State badminton claimed the highest gold medal even in the last national sports festival at Lagos State. “We have lots of young men and women, including force men and women who are interested and passionate about the sport and had always proved themselves.

“We are self sustaining and was able to keep the sport relevant for the Rivers State government hence we need the state government to support in whatever way it could to keep the sport alive so that we could go on to excel”, he stated.

Speaking further he hinted that in all the competitions that the Rivers State veterans and professionals had featured, they have always come tops. “Infact, Rivers State badminton Association had produced national champions through self help, hence he is appealing government support so that the association will do more.

“We have also organized lots of tournaments. The most regular ones are the annual ones, the 23 LGAs of the state.

He however, highlighted that there are lots of benefits derived from playing the game of badminton, like a healthy body, physical and mental alertness, playing the game of badminton makes one younger and fresh. More importantly keeps headache away from badminton players. ###
