SGF: Owabie Makes Case for Amaechi

A pro-democratic commentator and prominent Chief in Rivers State, HRH Chief Owabie Tobin the Eze Onumini 1 of Port Harcourt LGA has described Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi the former governor of Rivers State as the most qualified for the position of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).

In a chat with journalists in Port Harcourt, Chief Owabie Tobin who noted that the position of SGF required an experienced personality, recalled Governor Amaechi’s track records in governance.

According to him, Governor Amaechi during his tenure as speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly was elected twice as the chairman of the Conference of Speakers in the federation and performed hence he was rewarded with an award of the best speaker of the year.

Similarly as a Governor of Rivers State between 2007 to 2015 he was elected twice as the chairman of the Nigerian Governors Forum NGF and became the first person to be re-elected as chairman of NGF for a second tenure due to his wonderful performances, pointing out that during his tenure as the NGF chairman he was a destabilized leader who carried all parties members including PDP and APC along in the scheme of things without fear or favour.

The royal father further noted that, Governor Amaechi as the governor of Rivers State for two tenures performed excellently in all sectors including road network, security, health, schools, award of scholarship to indigenes of the state among others and appeal to President Muhammadu Buhari to appoint Amaechi SGF.

The royal father who frowned at the manner in which the present government appoint several special advisers in both state and federal levels advised President Muhammadu Buhari and Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State to reduce numbers of their Special Advisers and create employment opportunities for Nigerian citizens through establishment of companies and parastatals to enable them being gainfully employ and reduce crimes in the country.

He commended Muhammadu Buhari for his effort in asking members of the G7 to assist Nigeria to fight against Boko Haram describing it as a step in the right direction.

On Governor Nyesom Wike’s determination to dissolve the newly elected chairmen in Rivers State, the royal father who noted that the idea is not the best interest of Rivers people urged Wike to shun the idea stressing that the dissolution of the council chairmen of the LGA would ruin his government because such will create violence.

The royal father however urged him to concentrate on ensuring security, peace and embark on people oriented projects that will develop the state, which would for a long way to give him good record.

The royal father who congratulated the newly appointed commissioners in Rivers State urged them to carry out their duties with fear of God and perform their respective duties without fear or favour.

He advised Mr. Felix Obuah the sole administrator of the Rivers State West Management Agency to ensure that Rivers State is clean.

He congratulated Justice Daisy Okocha the newly appointed Chief Judge of Rivers State for her assignment and advised her to perform her duties without fear and carry everyone along in the scheme of things.

The royal father further lauded Senator Ben Bruce the managing Director of Silverbird Television for his boldness in advising the state and the federal government to reduce their entourage as the Nigeria government spent huge amount of money in purchasing vehicles for their entourage describing it as waste of fund.###
