Why Ogunbote Dumps Sharks For Shooting Stars

ogunboteIt is no longer news that former Sharks of Port Harcourt manager, Coach Gbenga Ogunbote has dumped Sharks for Shooting Stars Football Club of Ibadan.

Speaking to newsmen, former chairman of Sharks supporters club Mienaye Igaini revealed that the reason that coach Ogunbote abandoned Sharks for shooting stars are simple.

According to him, the bulk of salaries owed the Akure born tacticim and the incessant threat of life are some of the reason the gentle soft spoken coach has to abandoned Sharks to handle shooting stars of Ibadan.

He recounted that the coach life has been threatened by fans and supporters of the club which has made it difficult for the humble jovial coach to continue with the PH side.

It would be recalled that Coach Ogunbote was attacked alongside with his captain, Odinga O. Odinga in a broad day light in the field of play after sharks lose a match.

Good or bad, the defenceless Gbenga Ogunbote brought some reform to Sharks to almost won the 2013/2014 Nigeria professional football league.

Sharks was leading the log table till unpaid salaries and allowances of both the technical crew and players took a twist to affect the mentality and play of the players.

Sharks have never since it inception have never lifted a major trophy apart from the WAFU cup.

Sharks is the traditional team of Rivers State and subsequent government had put in much money to no trophy to show for it.

Many national coaches had also been contracted to give a lift to the club, all prove fruitless. Sister club Dolphins was bought over from Eagle cement which has given the state lots of laurels and international outing. ###
