Gokana: Council Chairman frowns At Workers’ Non-Challant Attitude

Hon. Kadilo Kabari, the Caretaker Committee chairman of the Gokana Local Government Area of Rivers State has expressed deep concern over the non-challant attitude of the council workers in discharge of their statutorily duties.

Hon. Kabari who made the observation during this year’s workers’ day celebration at Kpor, headquarters of the council, regretted that most workers absence themselves from official assignment but only to appear on pay day to collect their salaries.

The council chairman condemned such attitude of the workers and urged them to refrain from such unethical behaviour.

In his welcome address, the chairman of Gokana chapter of NULGE, Comrade Saturday Banu called on the government to provide conducive working environment.

The LGA NULGE boss further called for training and retraining of staff and human capacity development for effective service delivery.

He demanded for the payment of 2007 leave bonus, three (3) months arrears of the 2013 minimum wage, one month (1) promotion arrears for senior staff in 2014, provision of chairs, table and others.

The highlights of the occasion were match past and award of forty (40) satellite discs to forty (40) hardworking staff. ###
