Imo Guber: Why Okorocha Should Be Given A Second Chance…Urges Rec To Be Neutral In Rerun Election

ASORBased on the inconclusive nature of Imo State gubernatorial election and the rescheduled re-run that was slated for the 25th of April, 2015, the paramount ruler of Obudi Agwa Autonomous Community, Oguta LGA, Imo State, HRH Eze Dr. I.O. Asor has called on the state Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, Dr. Gabriel Ada, to exhibit maturity and neutrality in the forthcoming rescheduled election.            The chairman of Oguta LGA Council of Traditional Rulers however, called on the REC to do the needful, by allowing the wishes of Imolites to come to play. He pointed out that the political tension in the state may degenerate, if the result of the re-run goes against the wishes of the people.

Eze Asor maintained that it would be devastating, should the blood of any citizen of the state spill in the course trying to subvert the wishes and aspirations of the generality of Imolites, to favour the opposition party, who in the last 12 years has not done anything tangible for the people of the state.

The former member of Imo State Council of Traditional Rulers, opined that his decision to support the re-election of his Excellency Owelle Rochas Anayo Okorocha, was based on the developmental strides that his administration has brought to Agwa clan, even though some of the on-going projects are yet to be completed, according to him.

Emeritus Chairman of Traditional Rulers of Oil and Minerals Producing Communities of Nigeria, TROMPCON, emphasized that governor Okorocha has done so much for the people of the state, in the last three years.

Asor was of the view that re-electing Okorocha to consolidate on his infrastructural development in the state, would be of immense benefit to the entire Imolites in all nooks and crannies of the state.

He, expressed happiness that the electorate in the state are no longer voting for political parties, but on personality, performance and integrity of a candidate. Udi 1 of Obudi Agwa Ancient Kingdon used the medium to call on the police to investigate the cause of the inferno that razed down Agwa police station and ensure that those behind the dastardly act, were brought to book, to serve as a deterrent to others.

On the recent threat to the Igbos in Lagos State, Eze Asor has urged the Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwani Akiolu to be courageous enough to apologies to the Igbos, as a people that have all it takes in the country.

He noted that the Igbos are known all over the world for their hospitality and should therefore not be threatened the way Akiolu did, maintaining that the two types of development that are visible in Lagos today are that of government and the Igbos.

The paramount ruler further noted that the developmental achievements in Lagos States is achieved through the resources of the South- East and South -South geo-political zones of the country, reiterating that the response of Akiolu’s Personal Assistant, PA, on the Oba’s threat to the Igbo’s before the guber election in the state, is not accepted to the Igbos and commended Okorocha for the constituted delegation that visited Oba Akiolu on the threat.
