Phalga: Rep Candidate Unfold Agenda

A House of Representatives candidate for Port Harcourt Federal Constituency II under the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Sir Collyns Owhonda has said his priority is to make laws that would benefit his people and carry them along in the scheme of things.

Sir Owhonda made the remark while in a chat with journalists in Port Harcourt shortly after the All Progressives Congress APC ward rally in Phalga.

The Federal House of Representatives hopeful who assured that he would ensure effective representation of his people, make laws that will be friendly to them, pointing out that he does not believe in “My people sent me” rather he is well prepared to deliver his people and justify the confidence reposed on him.

Order of his agenda include: empowerment of youth/women, petty traders to enhance their businesses, provision of constituency office, provision of liaison guest house at Abuja for constituency members who may visit Abuja, award of scholarship and bursary to indigenous students.

Sir Owhonda who noted that Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, the governor of Rivers State has performed excellently in health, education, infrastructural development, human capital development, security among others across the 23 LGAs of the state, advised Dr. Dakuku Adol Peterside, the APC governorship candidate in Rivers State to consolidate on governor Amaechi’s wonderful achievements as well as embark on aquaculture farming to ensure abundant of fishes in the state and put in place other projects that is necessary for the state, describing Dakuku Peterside as credible candidate that would take Rivers State to the next level if elected in 2015 election.

Reacting on a statement credited to Mr. Felix Obuah, the Rivers State Peoples Democratic Party, chairman that the APC members were responsible for the shooting during the PDP governorship rally at Bakana in Akuku Toru LGA and shooting at the Eagle Island Diobu axis some days ago, Sir. Owhonda who denied the allegation, noted that the APC was not a violent party rather it is the PDP members that are synonymous with violent.

According to him, “we don’t need a soothsayer to tell us that it is the PDP members that always create violent, pointing out that the crisis that rocked the PDP rally at Bakana was Egberipapa and Farah cult groups who are members of PDP that clashed over supremacy during the PDP rally at Bakana.

On the agitation of removal of Prof. Attahiru Jega, the INEC chairman by members of PDP, Sir. Owhonda noted that removing Prof. Jega will not be the right option for the country because it will set Nigeria backward.

According to him, President Jonathan has said in a media chat that he will not remove Jega and President Jonathan is a honourable man but if he fails in his promise and removes him “we will regard him as one who is not honourable”.

Sir. Owhonda who expressed optimism that Jega will conduct free and fair credible elections in March 28 and April 11, 2015 charged the people of Phalga to vote massively for APC candidates in the election and urged the youths not to allow politicians use them to cause crisis in the elections rather should be law abiding citizens, get their PVCs and vote candidates of their choice in the forthcoming elections. ###
