N6bn Bribe: Cleric Threatens To Rain Curses On Amaechi

National Vice-President of the South-South chapter of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, Dr. Simeon Okah, has described as a mockery on spiritual leaders the allegation by Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi that the Christians Association of Nigeria collected N6bn bribe from the Presidency.

Okah asked Amaechi and others who have joined him in making the allegation to stop lest they incurred the wrath of God.

He spoke in Calabar, the Cross River State capital, on Sunday during the inauguration of the state chapter executive of PFN.

He said it was not true that the leadership of CAN collected N6bn to support President Goodluck Jonathan’s re-election bid as alleged.

Okah said, “When I read the report, I called Dr. Okoye, who is the Aso Rock Pastor when Obasanjo was President, to find out the veracity of the newspaper reports and he said it was not true.

“I call on those making such allegations to prove their case or repent before they incur the wrath of God on themselves”.

He said Amaechi as a Christian should know the implication of such allegation on spiritual leaders.

“If Amaechi is a Christian that he claims to be, he knows the implication of making such allegation against people who are his spiritual leaders. This issue is beyond politics and I thought that Amaechi, who is a Christian, knows the implication of making such allegation and I call on him to name the people the money was given to or shut up,” he said.

Amaechi’s Commissioner Denies Involvement In Okrika Shooting

The Rivers State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Sampson Parker, has told the Peoples Democratic Party in the state to stop linking him to the attack on the All Progressives Congress rally in the Okirika Local Government Area.

Parker, who was reacting to the allegation by the PDP that APC top shots in Okirika were among the masterminds of the mayhem in the area, described the allegation as false and illogical.

The state secretary of the PDP, Dr. Ibibia Walters, had blamed the disruption of the APC governorship rally in Okirika on the leadership tussle of members of the party in the area.

But Parker said in a statement on Sunday that there was no leadership tussle in the APC in Okrika, adding that though there were two commissioners in APC from Okirika, Davi Alagbere remained the leader of the party in the area.

He said, “Unlike in the PDP, there is some sense of orderliness in the APC. I abhor violence. And I cannot bring myself so low as to perpetrate violence against my own people. Okirika people are peaceful and hospitable.

“The Inspector-General of Police, Suleiman Abba, has asked the Assistant-Inspector General of Police, Tunde Ogunsakin, to carry out a full-scale investigation into the incident. So, he should not be in a hurry to cast aspersions. I hope that the police will do a thorough job.”

Similarly, the Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Rivers State chapter, Mr. Kingsley Ibanichuka, decried the shooting that rocked the APC governorship rally in Okirika.

Ibanichuka wondered why Parker would be drawn into the incident, adding that the commissioner contributed immensely to organising the APC rally.

“Why should anyone attack his own people? It is not possible. The PDP knows what happened. They should tell the police what really happened. Dr. Parker is a man of peace and a strong supporter of the APC,” he said.
