N6b bribe: Southern Christian Elders Dare Amaechi

amae boyThe Southern Nigeria Christian Elders’ Forum, SOCEF, on Sunday asked the Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi to name pastors who allegedly collected N6 billion bribe from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Amaechi had few days ago alleged that some pastors were bribed by the presidency to get their backing for Jonathan’s re-election.

However, in a press statement signed by Bishop Prof. David Eberechukwu, the group said, “we are still investigating the gift of N1 million each to pastors in Rivers State.

“We call on him to call names of those that collected the N6 billion gratification”.

SOCEF equally expressed concern over some comments by elder statesmen on national issues, urging them to “consider the growth, peace and togetherness of this nation, which at one time or the other took an oath to defend her unity and uphold her honour and glory”.

Bishop Eberechukwu, who is also the chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, South-East, added in the statement that, “SOCEF wishes to commend the authorities, INEC and the security chiefs for the shifting of the election date. This is to enable INEC plan very well to conduct a free and fair election.

“We should not allow foreigners to decide our fate in this country and we need to do our thing very well and those that have not collected their PVCs will now have a lot of time to do so.

“Finally, we call on all the Christians and Moslems to pray for a peaceful transition and let God decide our fate and not foreigners”.
