Election Observers Hold Emergency Meeting In Port Harcourt

In a bid to ensure free, fair, transparent credible election across the federation in the forthcoming elections, the election observers have concluded plans to hold an emergency meeting in Port Harcourt.

The meeting is scheduled to hold on Tuesday 4 November, 2014 in Port Harcourt. A prominent Civil Society activist and pro-democracy crusader Amb. Emmanuel Nkweke aka “Mr. Vote Count” the leader of the 2011 INEC accredited election observers in Rivers and Bayelsa made the disclosure while in a chat with journalists in Port Harcourt.

According to him, the meeting which top agenda will be preparation on now to conduct free and fair credible election in the country in 2015 elections will comprise INEC election observers across the 23 LGAs of Rivers State, Civil Society Organization members, and journalists.

Amb. Nkweke said the meeting is crucial and important especially as it also concerned the observation and monitoring of the forthcoming permanent voters card distribution in the state and the continuous voters registration exercise, adding that the 2011 elections in Rivers State was the most peaceful in Nigeria.

He further stressed that Rivers State is most crucial in Nigeria pointing out that permanent voter’s card and card registers will go along way to reducing rigging in the forthcoming election.

He, however called on the participants to be punctual at the meeting. ###
