Ousted members of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Rivers State have now reasons for a sigh of relief as they have been reintegrated into their party.
The integration processes which commenced last week was finally concluded Monday with the visit of National chairman of the party Adamu Mu’azu to Port Harcourt, with the restructuring of the party executives at the wards level across the 319 wards of the state.
The local government executives as well as state executives of the party would be ratified at the forthcoming local government and state congresses before the gubernatorial primaries.
Meanwhile, The Newswriter has on good authority gathered that an acting or caretaker executive committee succeeds the Bro. Felix Amaechi Obuah’s led executive in the state pending a proper congress.
It would be recalled that an aggrieved section of the party led by Hon. Elemchukwu Ogbowu has petitioned the National chairman of the party, Adamu Mu’azu over what it described as denial of membership right of participation and non inclusion of founding members in the administration of the party.
Meanwhile, in Andoni Local Government Area chapter of the party, eight (8) wards were affected in the new structure. Wards1,-5,7,10 and 11 now have new wards executives of the PDP.
In ward 1, Mr. Amakikiri Nte Wilson is now the new chairman while Gogo Allen takes over ward 2 as Solomon Ayagwung pilots the affairs of ward 3 with Fred Shedrack as secretary.
Others are Esuku Ikwut for Ward 4, Titus Jones ward 5, Victor Theophilus ward 6 and Gabriel Jacob Ward 7. The list include Mr. Mbranye Josiah for ward 10 and Mr. Maxwell Wilson Akpa ward 11. Wards 9 and 8 remains as before.
Meanwhile, in a chat with The Newswriter political correspondent the chairman of Ward 3, Solomon Ayagwung has thanked the leadership of the party both at the local government and ward level for giving him the opportunity to serve his people, promising to put in his best in mobilizing the ward for PDP, explaining that first he is to employ the strategy of wooing back those who left the party assuring all party faithful of equal treatment and advise all to sheathe any form of grievances and embrace the new leadership for the success of the party.
However, The Newswriter gathered that in ward 2, prominent members of the party who joined the All Progressives Congress APC, are due to formally defect back to the PDP. Chairman, of the ward Gogo Allen dropped the hint while speaking to The Newswiter political correspondent.
It was gathered that the PDP supporters in Andoni are in high spirit following the successful integration and reclaiming of supposedly loss membership.
If the new structure as put in place represents the party’s decision then the APC in the area is to work hard for its expected victory if at all such is expected or already won.
The Newswriter further gathered that, the opposition parties in the Andoni Local Government Area are already jittering following PDP harmonization.
It was further disclosed that the Chief Whip, Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon. Ikunyiowaji Ibani is the Party leader in the Andoni LGA and that the constituted Wards executives are not only equal to the task but backed by the authority of the party.###
