Sharks Embark On Strike Over Unpaid Sign On Fee

GOV. AMAECHIPort Harcourt side, Sharks of Port Harcourt are on strike owing to their unpaid sign on-fees.

Sharks after winning Kano Pillars at home 1-0 went on strike due to the Rivers State Government inability to pay the players their sign-on-fees.

Struggling Sharks increased her chances in the Nigeria Professional Football League over the weekend by beating Kano Pillars 1-0 to better her position in the log to 7 while sister fellow Port Harcourt side, Dolphins is occupying the 6th position in the Nigeria professional Football League log table.

It would be recalled that Sharks and her sister club went on strike before both teams were appealed to honour their remaining league games with the promises that the government will settle their unpaid sign-on-fees, which made Sharks and Dolphins to honour their weekend games.

As of the time of filing in this report, players of Sharks are now embarked on strike saying this time if the government appeals to them without paying their sign-on-fees, they will not honour their remaining matches in the league.

Meanwhile, the players of Sharks staged a protest to Government House on Tuesday, 14th October, 2014 for their unpaid sign-on-fees.

Determined Sharks players are resolute in their demand of their sign-on-fees saying that they will not honour their remaining league matches till the government pay their sign-on-fees.

Sharks have an away game midweek, only time will tell the outcome of their protest and strike over their unpaid sign-on-fees.

Deputy Governor of Rivers state has appealed to players of Sharks and Dolphins to expect their sign-on-fees in two weeks time while telling them to honour their remaining games.###
