Lovers of soccer are in good time to expect a community shield All-stars football competition in Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers State.
This was disclosed to the public through a radio sports programme by the sponsor of the much anticipated and All-stars, Port Harcourt community shield, Hon. Aye Atamah Pepple.
According to him, he decided to introduce the idea of Port Harcourt All-stars teams having community shield have a clear over all winner of the yearly old Port Harcourt Independence Allstars Soccer Tournament.
Hon. Aye Atamah Pepple, Rivers State House of Assembly Member Representing Bonny constituency is the initiator and sponsor of the old Port Harcourt Independence All-stars Soccer Tournament.
He had successfully sponsored two edition of the special soccer tournament for the All-star clubs in Port Harcourt.
His aim is to see the All-stars teams made up of ex-professional football stars to get themselves together in the field of play to promote friendship, unity and togetherness amongst friends in the Allstars teams in Port Harcourt.
In the first edition of the programme which kick off from 2013 had six (6) All-stars teams battled for honours and supremacy, seeing Port Harcourt International All-stars lifting the very maiden edition.
In the second edition, (the 2014 edition) eight (8) teams registered for the competition leaving kalongii Sports Club FC lifting the trophy after defeating 58 1-0.
Hon. Atamah actually scored the winning goal to become the most valuable player of this particular edition. ###
