Obuah Lampoons Amaechi Over Attack on Jonathan

Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State, Chief Felix Obuah, on Monday took a swipe at Governor Chibuike Amaechi, over his alleged verbal attack on President Goodluck Jonathan, describing the development as “childish”.

Amaechi had called on the people of Kalabari not to vote for Jonathan and PDP in 2015.

The Governor, while commissioning an 8,000-seater football stadium complex built by the Degema Local Government Council at the weekend, told Kalabari people that the president hated them, saying the hatred was responsible for the taking over of Soku oil wells by Bayelsa State Government.

He alleged that the ceding of the Soku oil wells to Bayelsa received the tacit support of the president.

Reacting to Amaechi’s statement, Obuah, who spoke in Port Harcourt through his Special Adviser on Media, Mr. Jerry Needam, described the verbal attack on Jonathan as unwarranted, shameful and childish.

He accused the governor of instigating the people of Kalabari Kingdom against the president and promoting hatred against his person.

He said: “Besides the fact that Governor Amaechi’s comments and actions are contraventions of the Electoral Act on campaigns ahead of the 2015 general elections, his comments are also very provocative, confrontational and subversive against the person and office of the president and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

“We hereby condemn the synchronised and methodical attacks on the person and office of President Jonathan, his wife and First Lady of Nigeria and the PDP. The PDP shall henceforth, resist any attempt by Governor Amaechi, to continuously slander, insult and undermine the office and person of President Goodluck Jonathan.”

The PDP chairman also warned the governor to desist from insulting the president or be prepared to face what he called, “very grave consequences.”
