BULLETS AND NIGHTMARES

I see the shocks of man-made thunders
Fires from handmade lightning
Wreaking havoc on cities, homes, heads…
Torn! Children away from playmates,
Fathers, homes, hopes, promising fates
Aimlessly running from the aimless fighting.

Our brothers, hiding from the marching troops
With freshly made widows, wives and children
With heavy hearts and untried tears
Of lost little lads, brothers, sisters, a friend…
Struggling with the harsh terrain,
With harsher inner pain…scavenging!!

Sad songs sung,
of myriad marring memories made
By the blood- and the scars.
Of the helpless tormented moment
When with less goodbye than the slightest touch
Full of fear, affection and of uncertainty,
Our husbands are gone, dragged off to feed the war.

For Honour, for Peace, Preservation, Love of Country or Tribe
For Revenge, for pain, for Pride, or Love of Money and Bribe
Love of Blood….
Or the brainless battles of some greedy old men
Playing checkers with our blood.
