“Rehabilitate Woji Road” RSG Told

The River State Governor, Rt. Hon Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi has been called upon to commence construction and rehabilitation of the Woji to YKC junction in the Obio/Akpor Local Government Area.

Mr. Justice Chukwu-Ngba, Chairman Keke Owners and Riders Association of Nigeria (KORAN) Woji Unit who made this call in a chat with newsmen in Port Harcourt recently, said that the inhabitants of Woji and its environs are suffering as a result of the poor state of the road.

He stressed that the road, being a link road and a byepass of the Port Harcourt-Aba expressway, if constructed into a double lane road would reduce the traffic congestion experienced in the area.

According to him, “I call on the state government, the NDDC, multinational operating in Obio/Akpor to help in this regard so that the people in Woji area can move easily. Our keke operators are also finding it difficult to ply the road because of the bad road”.

Mr. Chukwu Mgba advised keke operators in the Woji unit to obey the necessary traffic laws, adding that as operators of keke they need to show good example to other road users to ensure traffic flow in the area.

He said further that landlords whose houses are on the road should co-operate with the contractor in charge of the road construction, when they commence the job.

He used the opportunity to commend Gov. Amaechi for his developmental strides in the state, pointing out that the governor should continue the good works by extending it to Woji so as to make the people of the area feel the impact of this administration.

Meanwhile, Mr. Justice is to be honoured by the Niger Delta Practicing Journalists and News Publishers with a Golden Achievers Award following his contributions towards the development of Nigeria, especially in the transport sector.

Speaking on the award, the chairman of the organization, Mr. Jolly said the award was to spur Mr. Justice to do more for the society, adding that the association was glad to partner with the chairman of KORAN, Woji unit in order to have an enviable transport system in Rivers State. ###
