In a bid to update the practice of professionals of the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers, NIESV has organized 1st 2014 national mandatory continuing professional Development seminar.
In a chat with journalists shortly after the seminar, Dr. B.J Ajayi, the 1st Vice President of the body who noted that NIESV was the only profession that can evaluate for all purposes disclosed that the seminar geared towards shaping the profession as well as acquaint professionals to meet up the requirement and knowledge of the modern Nigeria online. Dr. Ajayi who further disclosed that the theme of the seminar was “updating valuation practice tools, revealed that the challenges of the NIESV were quackery and size of numbers of professionals in the profession to serve the millions of Nigerians on Estate Surveyors and Values matters, stressed the need for more genuine members to register in the profession to serve the masses excellently.
He, however urged members of the profession who have not identified with the professionals to avail themselves for the opportunity describing the seminar as a huge success.
Similarly, in a chat with journalists at the ceremony, Emma Okas Wike Principal Partners and the immediate past president of the NIESV noted that the aim of the seminar was to evaluate Nigerian society and acquaint professionals with the modern knowledge of thing in the profession to enhance their performances, appealed to members of the profession to always participate in all seminars organized by the NIESV pointing out that such would go a long way in promoting and enhancing their performances and described the seminar as successful.
In his vote of thanks Livingstone Iyanda, Chairman National CPD Committee expressed delighted for the success of seminar and commended those who sponsored the seminar as well as the participants.
He expressed optimism that the seminar will go a long way in updating NIESV members practice and enhancement of their performances in various branches.
The highlights of the seminar was the paper presentation at the ceremony such as updating valuation practice tools by Prof. Godfrey Okon Udo, financial reporting and componentization of Assets by Akin Olowore, statutory opportunities for valuation services by Bode Adediji, valuation of oil and gas facilities a case study approach by Henry Omosigha and others. ###
