The Bishop of the African Church, Rivers Diocese, the Rev. Isaac Adeniyi Akinkunmi Falana has expressed concern over the increasing rate of insurgency, Ebola disease, child rape, unemployment, underdevelopment in the Nigerian Society.
Speaking at a press briefing in Port Harcourt on Monday, the man of God lamented that Nigeria as a nation has witnessed a lot of bloodshed through violence in the country.
His words, “Our country Nigeria has witnessed lots of bloodshed through the insurgency of Boko Haram. We are encountering the dreaded Ebola disease. Child rape is on the high side. The underprivileged have no voice. Politicians now play on the intelligence of the masses, the electorate through mischievous practices”. The Bishop, however attributed the increase in crime to unemployment of youths, expressing hope that, despite many vices, God would come to the rescue of the nation.
The Bishop speaking ahead of the forthcoming convention of the Diocese with a theme “Divine Abundance”. According to him, the convention will kick off on the 28th through 31st August, 2014 at St. John’s African Church, Obuama in the Degema Local Government Area of Rivers State.
He said that the programme will feature: Salvation, healing, deliverance, breakthrough, seminar, free medical services, drama, quiz and choir ministration. According to him within the partnership of the Holy Spirit, prominent men and women of God will be ministering during the event. Some of the guest speakers include: Rt. Rev. J.O.O. Abbe, Bishop Lagos Central Diocese, Rt. Rev. D. A. Sogbanmu, Bishop Enugu/South East Missionary Diocese, Lady Evang. E.O. Sogbanmu and other anointed Ministers of God.
The cleric had earlier told newsmen that this year’s convention is an avenue to pray for the peace of Nigeria. He predicted that, “Nigeria will survive, insurgencies will cease, 2015 election shall be divinely conducted and His chosen vessels shall occupy for God”.
The man of God called on Nigerians to put their trust in God, predicted that Nigeria will not be disintegrated, but must survived to the glory of God. ###
