Ikwerre People Should Not Be Compelled To Join APC- Royal Father

A Royal Father, Chief (Engr) Lawrence Amadi JP, the Eze Omemma-Eli of Apara Kingdom in Rumuepirikom, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, has cautioned the Rivers State Governor, HonChibuike Rotimi Amaechi, from compelling Ikwerre people to join the All Progressives Congress.

Chief Amadi, who said Rumuepirikom is Peoples Democratic Party’s stronghold in Rivers State, stressed that the Governor compelling Ikwerre indigenes to join APC would result to betrayal, since he has not clearly explained his reason for leaving PDP.

The former State Executive Council member of PDP and presently a stakeholder in the party, who spoke with journalists recently in his Palace, repeated that Rumuepirikom is a calm and hospitable area, saying they will not allow anybody to truncate the peace they are enjoying in the area now.

He frowned at the Governor’s resolve to revisit the community, few weeks after his purported visit almost pulled down the peace of the area.

Speaking on President Goodluck Jonathan’s re-election into office, he said the Elders and Chiefs of Ikwerre Elders Forum are in total support of his second tenure, saying that if Jonathan is given another chance he will do better than he has achieved.

According to Chief Amadi, “we the Elders and Chief of Ikwerre Elders Forum will ensure that President Goodluck Jonathan goes for second tenure. So we are pledging our total support for him”.

He further commended the developmental strides by Jonathan, adding that his transformation programmes in the country have made him the best and the youngest President Nigeria has produced.

He also called for massive support for governorship aspiration of Minister of State for Education, Chief (Barr) Nyesom Wike, addressing him as the Moses of the time, judging from when he was the Chairman of Obio/Akpor LGA.

“Everybody can testify of his good works and generosity during his tenure as the Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area”, Chief Amadi said.

Again, he said Rivers politics should not be tribalised if the State really needs better development, adding that leadership is qualified by performance and who is willing to transform the State for good.

He also called on the Obio/Akpor Caretaker Committee Chairman, Dr Lawrence Chuku, and Barr Tasie Wike, to leave the home enemies and think of the future of the area and return back to the people as they would be received by the people.
