Wife of the Executive Governor of Rivers State, Dame Judith Amaechi has advocated for cooperation and financial support to enhance the establishment of the Empowerment Support Initiative (ESI) in the Andoni Local Government Area.
Dame Judith Amaechi made the appeal in Ngo town, headquarters of the Local Government Area while on a one day empowerment visit, on Monday where several youths and women benefitted from the scheme.
The Governor’s wife who told the large crowd of her five fold mission on project women empowerment disclosed that taking from the rich to the poor was one of the missions other than procuring only food items and other materials for the people and women.
According to her education of tomorrow’s leaders and reaching out to the less privileged was key to her mission and appealed strongly to the people for financial support, especially those in elective and appointive positions from the area to enable her office build the ESI Schools in Andoni.
The first lady also enjoined the women to be prayerful as to attract God’s presence and speed to the actualization of the project in Andoni, explaining that she runs the ESI without a prescribed budget but by donations from good willed and spirited stakeholders.
Earlier, the wife of the Caretaker Chairman, Pastor (Mrs.) Nancy K.S. Egop in her welcome address solicited for the establishment of the ESI Nursery/Primary School programme at strategic locations in the Local Government since none of it exist.
Pastor Mrs. Egop while applauding the Governor’s wife for the laudible initiative noted that the Andoni people have benefited from it as they are bringing up responsible children through the Empowerment Support Initiative (ESI) as well as bringing relief not only to the widows but also to the less privileged.
The wife of the Caretaker Chairman who affirmed the positive impact and godly direction of the Governor’s wife on the people, assured her of the total support of the people of Andoni. “Your Excellency, we want to assure you that the people of Andoni are irrevocably behind your husband”.
In his goodwill message at the event, the State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Dr. Davies Ibiamu Ikanya has called on the beneficiaries of the empowerment scheme to reciprocate the gesture when call upon, as he assured the Governor’s wife of not only supporting her husband, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi but must sweep Andoni and Rivers State as in the case of Osun State while congratulating the party for the Osun victory.
Also speaking, the Rivers State Deputy Governor, Engineer Tele Ikuru noted that Andoni people are known for their cooperation and positivity, adding that they never weaver when they say yes to a course, assuring Dame Judith Amaechi of victory in Andoni come 2015.
In a similar Development, the Caretaker Chairman,and host of the one day empowerment visit, Elder (Hon.) Sampson Gilbert Egop has assured the Governor’s wife and the state of total victory for APC in Andoni noting that the party should tick good in advance for Andoni as the people are ready and willing for a change.
Items donated to the youths, women and less privileged include: foams, bags of Rice, Beans, Power oil, Ccooking pots as well as motorcycles.
The donors are wife of the executive Governor, Dame Judith Amaechi, Deputy Governor Engr. Tele Ikuru and his wife Dr. Mina Ikuru, Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Charles Gogo Levi, Hon Sam Sam Etetegwung amongst others.
Focuses of the events were presentation of the items to those affected and prayer session led by her Excellency Dame Judith Amaechi. ###
