Akulga: Youths Cautioned Against Political Thuggery

The First Lady of Rivers State, Her Excellency, Dame Judith Amaechi has advised Rivers youths to be weary of some politicians who would want to use them for political thuggery and violence only to dump them later.

Mrs. Amaechi gave the advice at Abonnema in Akuku-Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State during her maiden visit to the council area last week to empower the people. She enjoined the youths who are the leaders of tomorrow to instead take their education seriously in order to be able to take over the mantle of leadership effectively.

Mrs. Amaechi noted in her address that education remains the bed rock of development in any society.

According to her “peace and unity is the panacea to every development and so we should endeavour to live harmoniously with each other to attract dividends of democracy.

Mrs Amaechi advised parents to set their eyes on their children and to bring them up in the fear of God.

She concluded this passionate appeal with a heart touching rendition while dedicating AKULGA and Abonnema community in particular to the service of God.

Earlier in his speech, the host and Caretaker Committe Chairman of Akuku-Toru Local Government Area, Hon. Stanley Benibo thanked Dame Amaechi and her entourage for carrying the people of AKULGA along in the scheme of things.

He used the opportunity to appreciate, His Excellency, Rt Hon. Chibuike Amaechi over his development strides especially in the council area and promised to complement his efforts in this wise.

Hon. Benibo assured the All Progressives Congress, APC of their massive support come 2015. He equally used the opportunity to roll-out some of his own modest achievements within the short period with include: the empowerment of over 1,000 youths of AKULGA, and thanked the people for their massive turnout to welcome the first lady and specially appreciated Mrs. Amaechi for what he termed her motherly support towards his administration and the Local Government in general.

The AKULGA boss used the opportunity to donate a 18-seater bus to the market women Association in the area and a sum of N5 million for empowerment.
