2011 CARNIRIV Starts 13th December

The much anticipated Rivers State CarniRiv had a smooth take off on the 13th of December at Elekahia Liberation Stadium, otherwise called carnival village. The event started from 12 noon with children street parade at 3pm, while the opening ceremony proper was at 7pm same day.
Day 2 which was 14th December, 2011 witnessed boat regatta at Port Harcourt tourist Beach 10 am, followed by the performance of the 23 local government areas at the carnival village by 4 pm. Ladies nite cum praise fiesta will took place at 7 pm same day.
In order of performance Thursday, day 3, will have the various local government areas perform at the carnival village by 10 am and 4pm same day. Lovers of reggae and old school music will have their fair share as talent nite also will be on parade at the carnival village same day at 7 pm.
Friday 16th, day 4, will feature parade of the 23 local government areas with their various heritages with floats by 10 am around old Port Harcourt town with groove from Aggrey Road by 3pm
Day 5, being Saturday 17th December, 2011 residents of Port Harcourt will have a feel of carnival freestyle bands in the streets of Port Harcourt as freestyle band, street parade combines with peace concert culminating with presentation of awards to deserving winners in the carnival participation at 7 pm.
The organizers have said that this years carnival will surpass that of last year as some modification was made to add colour to the jollifications. ###
