Ikenga Moves To Eradicate Poverty In Ikwerre LGA

Over six hundred persons have been benefited from Hon. Chibuike Ikenga led Caretaker Committee across the 13 wards of the Ikwerre LGA’s.

Addressing the beneficiaries at the venue of the empowerment programme, Isiokpo, headquarters of Ikwerre Local Government Area. Hon. Ikenga, the CTC chairman of Ikwerre LGA said the programme was geared towards empowerment of the people of the LGA as a way of reaching out to them in line with Rt. Hon Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi’s directive to empower the people of the 23 LGAs to improve their lives.

Hon. Ikenga who noted that the empowerment programme cannot reach everyone at the same time assured the people of the LGA that it will continuues one so that everyone will benefit both indigenes and non indigenes.

Hon Ikenga said it was not specifically for APC members but everybody irrespective of his or her party affiliation.

On how many persons benefited from the program, he said over six hundred persons have been given twenty thousand cash payment each to kick start a business. He advised the beneficiaries to utilize the fund given to them.

Earlier in his remark, Hon Kerain Wobodo, the former chairman of Ikwerre LGA who chaired the occasion commended Hon. Chibuike Ikenga for his selfless service describing him as a kind man whose action aimed at improving the lives of the people of his area and enjoined the beneficiaries to use the fund given to them judiciously.

He expressed dismay on the manner in which members of PDP were antagonizing governor Amaechi after asking him to leave PDP describing it as uncalled for, adding that those who are fighting Governor Amaechi should see problem wherever they go to.

It would be recalled that prior to the empowerment programme of Hon. Ikenga Chibuike, two prominent sons of the LGA, Elder Chidi Wehioka, the chairman of the Road Maintenance Agency in Rivers State and Barr. Ezemonye Ezekiel, Amadi the Rivers State Commissioner for Land had empowered the people of the area with the donation of over thirty vehicles and motor cycles to them. ###
