Polytechnic Of Oil And Gas To Be Sited In Rivers

President Goodluck Jonathan has approved the establishment of Federal Polytechnic of Oil and Gas in Bonny, Rivers State with a takeoff grant of N1billion for the proposed Polytechnic to commence academic activities.

The President also approved the appointment of Professor Elijah Tamuno Iyagba as Rector, while Mr. Willabo A. Gilbert is to serve as Registrar. The President further approved the appointment of Mr. Akpomeyoma Gabriel as Bursar and Mr. Ata John Woke Ajala as Polytechnic Librarian, a statement Tuesday from the office of the Supervising Minister of Education said.

According to the release, the Minister, Barr. Ezenwo Nyesom Wike described the establishment of the Federal Polytechnic as a practical expression of the President’s commitment to improving access to tertiary education, creation of employment and the empowerment of the youths with the necessary skills to contribute to national development.

The Minister stated that no previous administration in the history of the nation has contributed to educational advancement the way the Jonathan administration has done since 2011.
