Keshi, Yobo Resign, Says No Regret

KESHI & YOBOIt is no longer news that African Nation Cup winning indigenous Coach, Stephen Okechukwu Keshi has finally resigned his appointed as Chief Coach of the Nigerian Super Eagles, after leading the team to her group of 16 at Brazil 21014 world cup.

Keshi has been associated with rumours of leaving the Super Eagles after the world cup owing to the fact that six (6) African countries are wooing for his services. Keshi practically confirmed that after France eliminated Nigeria at the round of 16 on Monday being 30th June.

Rumours has it that Keshi has already signed two years contract with the South Africa Football Federation to handle the country’s senior national football team.

The former Super Eagles tactician took this action due to the action of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF). The NFF was seen negotiating contract terms with a foreign coach before Keshi at Brazil, indicating that Keshi’s contract will not be renewed, hence he (Keshi) has to look elsewhere for his coaching job.

Keshi is being paid 5 million naira monthly as a take home pay. He was said to be the highest paid indigenous coach that had handled the Super Eagles.

From the records, Keshi is the most successful indigenous coach that had managed the Super Eagles. He won the Africa Nations Cup and took the Super Eagles to the group of 16.

Skipper Yobo had also retired from international football after maintaining his hundred caps at the Brazil 2014 world, in France Nigeria encounter, which Nigeria crashed out of the world cup.

Joseph Yobo is the only Nigerian player, dead or alive that had achieved the feat of having being capped one hundred times in the national senior team.

Both men are great heroes of Nigeria, one a coach and the other a player while Keshi records the only Nigerian player who played in the world cup and coached the national team at the world cup.

Both men bowed out of the national and international football scene same day at the same stage, historically. ###
