Yobo’s Sweetbitter Destiny of Fate

Yobo must be a child of destiny compared to the way he emerged as captain and became the longest served captain of the senior national football team, the Super Eagles.

He won the Africa Nations Cup as a captain and went on to capped one hundred times in the service of the Super Eagles.

Yobo should have been considered the most lucky played that must have donned the green white green jersey of Nigeria, if not the sad way he ended his international football career.

First, he is the first Nigerian player dead or alive who had capped one hundred times in the Super Eagles, second, he is the only Nigerian captain that had won the Nations cup as a captain and still captain the Super Eagles to play at the world cup.

This historical feat would stand the taste of time for Yobo over the years in reference for posterity, but the sad music of fate played on his life just the moment he wants to celebrate in style in reflect, how he had dedicated, committed his services to his fatherland.

Yobo was capped one hundred times in the match between France and Nigeria, but instead of celebrating, Yobo become a sober fellow as he caused Nigeria’s first and crown it with a second own goal. What a pity to a dedicated son of Nigeria.

The day of one’s exit in service should have been the best day of celebration, this day turned out in Yobo’s life as the worst day as he retires from international football in the colours of the colour he loves to wear in service of his belong country, Nigeria.

Yobo must have been a child of destiny, a sweetbitter child of destiny or should one say, fate has just decided against Yobo on the day of his honour and joy?

He played well to the exit of the Super Eagles in the Brazil world cup in the round of 16 only for Yobo to be denied that honour with a sad note.

But whatever that happens; Yobo has done well for his fatherland and deserved to be given heroic treatment by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

Fate and destiny could not change that, it can happen to anyone, let learn to celebrate our heroes when they are alive, and Yobo deserved to be celebrated as a hero. Just that few minutes lost of concentration cannot deny him of that heroic celebration and honour. ###
