The people of Bille kingdom in the Degema Local Government Area of Rivers State have thrown their weights behind the actualization of a council chairman from the District communities to oversee the administrative affairs of Delga in the next political dispensation.
They expressed optimism that an executive chairman from District communities would bring about total economic and social development into the Degema Local Government Area.
According to them the District communities have immensely contributed to the economic growth of the LGA, adding that any attempt to deny them a right to produce the next chairman of the Degema Local Government Area will not go down well with them.
The people of Bille kingdom made this known when the youths of the area visited Chief Bebe Jacobs, the Agbani-Ajike 1 of Niger Delta in Port Harcourt on Tuesday.
They said that the Bille kingdom would not allow the Degema Council seat to go to any zone than the District communities.
Comrade Tonye Diri who led the youths to visit the Agbani-Ajike 1 of Niger Delta region declared openly that for the sake of peace and unity no individual outside the District communities should contest the Delga chairmanship seat, so that there would be sanity in the politics of Degema.
Also youths from other towns and villages in the District namely: Ke, Old Bakana, Bukuma, Obuama, Usokun, Atela and Consulate paid a similar visit to Chief Bebe and demanded that the council seat must be zoned to the District communities.
Responding Chief Bebe, who is also the National Co-ordinator of Transformation Agenda for Goodluck 2015 promised them of his support, saying that whatever thing h e would do to ensure that the District communities secure the Delga chairmanship, he will do it without any delay. Chief Bebe advised the youths to be calm and focus, and also support the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan to actualize his second term in office, so as to usher in the needed development into the Niger Delta geo-political region. ###
