Ex-Governor Hosts OGS Students

The former Governor of Old Rivers State, Chief Rufus Ada-George hosted the students of Okrika Grammar School, (OGS) Okrika.

The hosting which took place at his residence also attracted some prominent old boys of the school.

Speaking at the occasion, the ex-governor said that the essence of the meeting was to encourage both the current and the old students to live up to their expectation. The erstwhile governor said that there are plans to give the school a face lift, and advised that all hands must be on deck.

Chief Ada-George, however condemned the kidnap of female students of the Government Secondary School, Chibok, Borno State. He prayed God to protect the Chibok students so that they would be released unharmed. Financial packages and food items were donated to the school.

Meanwhile, as the 75th anniversary of the school approaches old students are holding series of meetings and brainstorm on how to help OGS to regain its lost glory.

Those who were presence in the meeting include: Professor Opuweribo of UNITECH, Barry Eka, HRH (Dr.) F.L. Eze, Engr. E.A.J. George, Barr. B. Aprekuma and Briggs N.T.Boma.

In another development, the Nigerian Institute of Civil Engineers has honoured Engr. Enoch George, an Old Boy of OGS on Thursday in Port Harcourt.

Members of (NICE) who organized the 3rd Distinguished Annual lecture said Engr. George is an internationally known geologist, adding that he has done well in the areas of soil test, foundation design, among others. The 3rd annual lecture which has its theme: “Foundation Design And Durability Of Civil Infrastructure In Niger Delta”, also had in attendance, the chairman of Port Harcourt Chapter of NICE, OGS old boys amongst others. ###
