Barrister (Mrs.) Daba Iketubosin-Harry has been awarded the prestigious Green and white Stripe medal for rendering an unusual good service to the Nigerian Girl Guides Association Movement
The medal was presented by Dame (Dr.) Christie Toby, the Chief Commissioner of the Association in Lagos at the just concluded 5th World Centre Pilot Project on international training on developing entrepreneurship of leaders throughout Africa, and Strategic Partnership.
The medal is said to be one of the Association rear medals of honour. Mrs. Iketubosim-Harry has being a Guide-member all her life and is the National Youth Co-coordinator and youth leader for Rivers State, and hails from Abonnema in Rivers State. When asked how she feels about the award. She replied; “I am naturally elated and grateful for this recognition and humbled”. And thanked the Nigerian Girl Guides Association, Rivers State Branch for the sponsorship and Dr. Toby for successfully organizing and hosting the international training workshop, and also all the participants from the 26 Countries in Africa and the rest of the world, particularly Sweden and India.
She quickly used the opportunity to call on the Jonathan’s administration to address the nation on the security situation, particularly, the North-East of the country, and outline any security plan to contain Boko Haram. She further urged the administration to immediately rescue the girls taken captive at Chibok. She believes that the Federal Government is capable of rescuing the girls from their captors because Nigeria has over 67 security agencies which include the SSS, army, Navy, Air force, Police, Civil Defence, NDLEA, Customs, Immigration So that the capture of the girls will not end up like the Malaysian flight MH370 that went missing and has not be found till date. Mrs. Iketubosin-Harry emphasized that the Association is deeply concerned about the girls and hoped that they would come out without any harm.
