South-South Youths Pass Vote of Confidence On NDDC Boss

The South-South Youth Patriot Movement (SSYPAM), for ultimate peace and justice, has in an emergency meeting held in Port Harcourt on Sunday passed a vote of confidence on the NDDC Boss, Chief (Sir) Barr. Dan Abia.

The emergency meeting which was held at about 3:45pm had the National Presidents of SSYPAM, Comrade Chinagorom Nwonkwo and Adokiye Ogonobere of Rivers State Youth Federation (RSYF).

The duo maintained that they have confidence in the Managing Director, Chief Executive officer (CEO) of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Barr. Abia, including the Board Chairman, Bassey Henshaw, for the exemplary leadership style in the management of NDDC.

Speaking further Comrade Nwonkwo said: “We commend the CEO, the chairman and members of the Management Board in the way and manner in which they pilot the affairs of NDDC, since they assume office in December 2013. We the South-South youths are calling on Niger Deltans, South-South and Nigerians in general to pray and support Sir (Barr.) Dan Abia and his NDDC Governing Board. We also call, especially on the youths of Niger Delta not to allow themselves to be used by any group of persons to distort the smooth running of NDDC led by Sir. (Barr.) Dan Abia, because he meant well for the youths of Niger Delta”, as he, being a seasoned administrator in National and International affairs deserves the support of the people of Niger Delta.

The youth leaders claimed that Dan Abia has put in place all the abandoned facilities within a short time in the office, as he has come to save the NDDC from further decay, adding that it was annoying to see some youths coming under various groups to create unnecessary panic and tension in the Niger Delta region.

“We use this medium to call them to have a rethink and come back to their senses as we pass a unanimous vote of confidence on the Management Board of NDDC, under the able leadership of Sir. (Barr.) Dan Abia and Senator Bassey Henshaw, chairman of the board respectively, among others” Nwonkwo stated.

“Again, we also call on Mr. President to release fund to the NDDC because that is the only way in which the board can perform effectively as to deliver the mandate given them on their inauguration.

“In strong term, we support Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan GCFR in his future aspirations as we believe that he has the capacity to make Nigeria a better nation for us. We also seize this opportunity to commend the executive Director Finance and Administration, Hon. Dr. Henry Ogiri and the Executive Director Projects, Engr. Tonye for their cordial working relationship with both the MD/CEO and the chairman of the board”.

Comrade Nwonkwo, however, noted that the present NDDC management would not only empower jobless youths, but would also train them on various trades in order to become meaningful to the society, as the NDDC had taken notice of the youth problems and their immediate needs around their environment.

Meanwhile, Comrade Ogonobere who explain reasons for the emergency meeting said that Chief Dan Abia was scrutinized, adding that through investigation, it was learnt that he was the only person fit for the job as 21 kilometres road linking more than 33 communities in Abua/Odual LGA and others, pending multi-million naira projects had been reawarded by the NDDC boss without delay. ###
