The election of Chief (Hon) Davies Ibiamu Ikanya as the state chairman of the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) has been described as a mark of double blessing to the Obolo land, as another Obolo son is holding the office of National Deputy Chairman of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
A chieftain of the APC and former chairman of Andoni Local Government Area, Hon. Esuku M. Esuku made the observation and applauded the State Governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi for the gesture done Andoni people to produce the APC state chairman, saying that it was a great privilege for the first slot of political positions in the party to have come to the South-East Senatorial District in general and Andoni in particular.
The former council boss who also expressed appreciation to the party for voting Chief Ikanya, said Andoni will not suffer any loss in Nigeria and Rivers State, stating that while His Excellency the Deputy Governor, Engr. Tele Ikuru will be leaving office as Deputy Governor, Chief Ikanya will be representing the interest of Obolo (Andoni), in the state.
He advised all supporters to remain faithful to ensure that APC wins all his elections in the state.
While thanking God for the opportunity, Esuku congratulated Chief Ikanya for the victory and subsequent assumption of office.
It would be recalled that there were several speculations and opinion against Chief Ikanya’s returning to the office, but the unexpected has happened.
