APC Poised To Sweep Polls In Rivers

The newly elected chairman of the Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress APC, Dr. Davies Ibiamu Ikanya said his executives would surrender its party to God to elect the State Governor and President in the forthcoming elections.

Dr. Ikanya made the remark in his acceptance speech when he emerged the chairman of Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress on Saturday.

According to him, “We will surrender our party to Jehovah, the creator of heavens and earth to help us succeed,” pointing out that, “We will be a tool in the hands of God to elect an APC Governor in Rivers State, we will be a tool in the hand of God to elect an APC president in Nigeria” as well bring about required change, stressing that with God the APC will win the 2015 elections.

Dr. Ikanya, a onetime Commissioner for Special Duties commended the APC delegates and the entire party members for the mandate given to him.

Addressing party members after the congress, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, the Governor of Rivers State acknowledged party members for the peaceful conduct of the election attributing the success of the congress to the efforts and good conduct of the delegates in the election.

Governor Amaechi who was represented by his deputy, Engr. Tele Ikuru congratulated the new executives on their success and described the newly elected chairman of the party as ‘a lion’ who will team up with his executives to deliver the party in the 2015 elections.

In seperate chats with journalists at the venue of the congress, Hon. Ibim Semenatari, the State Commissioner for Information and Communications and Hon. Ogbonna Nwuke, a member representing Etche/Omuma Constituency in the Federal House of Representatives described the state congress as peaceful and transparent and enjoined Rivers people to join forces with the APC to win all the seats in 2015 elections.

Meanwhile Hon. Dakuku Peterside, a Federal lawmaker said the APC state congress marked the beginning of the end of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Rivers State.

Hon. Peterside, the former Commissioner for Works said this in a chat with journalists shortly after the congress.

He expressed confidence that the party congress would return the state to the mainstream of national politics and called on all party members to support the new executives to succeed.###
