Amaechi Is Insensitive To Our Plights – Pensioners

The Nigeria Union of Pensioners, Rivers State Council has decried the way and manner in which the State Governor, Rt. Hon. Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi is handling the affairs of Rivers Pensioners.

Shortly after he was sworn in to pilot the affairs of the union for the second time, Comrade Edward Festus-Abibo, the Chairman of the organization, enumerated some of the challenges that were being faced by Pensioners in Rivers State, stating that Governor Amaechi has made his position on Rivers Pensioners so difficult that no agency of government in the State can influence him on the matter.

The State Chairman  expressed believe that God in no distant time will save Rivers Pensioners in the hands of Amaechi and, however, thanked the chapter members for the opportunity given to him and other members of the council executive to serve them, promising to do his best as regards their welfare.

In the meantime, the National Vice President of Nigeria Union of Pensioners, South-South, Elder Tubonimi Samuel D. Sukuye JP, commended the leadership quality and achievements of the past administration and charged them to do more.

He blamed the State Head of Service, Barr. Long John on not taking a holistic measure to ascertain who exactly is a ghost worker in the state, pointing out that his name has been omitted from the pay roll since 2007 while he is still alive, and wondered if he would be described or seen as a living ghost in the state.

Those elected and sworn-in to handle the affairs of the State Council include: Comrade Edward Festus-Abibo as the Chairman; Chief T.B. Tornwine, Vice Chairman; Ebenizer N. Opia, Treasurer; Kalada Amino Kuma, Internal Auditor and Gabriel Eminedoki as Trustee 1. Others are: Chief E. Moses, Trustee 2; Ven. S.F. Ifuyok; Ven. Kio Offah; Chief Promise Amagbo; Mrs. Tam T. Dappa; Chief Samuel Wiche and Mr. Anthony Alozie, to serve as Ex-officio members of the union. ##
