If there should be meaningful social economic development in Kalabari Kingdom and to drastically reduce abject situation, scattered communities must be linked by creating access roads.
Roads and transportation are pillars of commerce and industry. If there are access roads in Kalabari Kingdom linking the scattered communities, the kingdom would unconsciously experience development and the much talked about unemployment, poverty and youth restiveness would be drastically reduced. This is because access road would distribute population to those communities that are less populated. Secondly, it would help to complete production.
Economically speaking, production is not complete until produce gets to the final consumers. This can happen through construction of access roads linking the various communities in Kalabari Kingdom.
As a matter of fact, some communities in Kalabari crowded which is causing untold hardship, strife, litigations and sometimes loss of lives.
The whole Kalabari Kingdom is covered by water with isolated Islands habouring settlements. The distance from one Island settlement to another can be a one to three hours drive with a fast engine boat through meandering creeks, wild waves and tidal waters.
For instance, the access road linking Tema-Ifoko-Sangama should be completed without further delay for the interest of the Kingdom.
Others to be considered for access roads are Bukuma-Tombia-Old Bakana and Bakana communities. Consideration must also be given to Mina-Ama-Krakrama Omekwe-Ama-Angulama-Omekwe-Tari-ama while awaiting for the commencement of the trans-Kalabari road. Concerted efforts should be harnessed at various levels of leadership to table the above suggestions to relevant authorities for consideration and necessary action, because of its socio-economic importance to the Kingdom. ###
