A frontline politician in Rivers State, Chief Ombo Benibo-Fubara has called for adequate sensitization of the electorate by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to enable them get acquainted with the basic principles of electoral reforms in the Country.
He made the appeal recently in Port Harcourt while addressing newsmen, saying this will amount to high level of justice and disenfranchisement, if the electoral body fails in its duty to inform and educate the public on current political happenings in
the country, especially Rivers State.
The one-term Chairman of DELGA frowned at the delay filling in the vacant seat created by the demise of Rt. Hon. Tonye Harry, representing Degema Constituency in the Rivers State House of Assembly who passed on recently, pointing out that it will only be proper, if INEC performs its function by informing the people on the position or stand of the vacant seat.
He tasked INEC to lived up expectation by addressing the hydra-headed issues concerning the vacuum left in DELGA constituency, adding that constitutional provisions allows for ninety (90) days after which a bye-election will take place to fill in the position, wondering why the people are still kept in the dark.
Chief Benibo-Fubara appealed to the good people of the Degema Local Government Area to be rest assured that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will record a resounding victory at the polls, anytime the election is fixed by INEC, while also advising them to be law-abiding and create an atmosphere of peace to reign in the area.
On the political situation in country, the English-trained engineer reaffirmed his unflinching support for President
Goodluck Ebele Jonathan to recontest for presidency in the 2015 general election, saying his transformation agenda is unparallel in the annals of the political history of Nigeria.
On the face-off between the President and Governor Chibuike Amaechi, the Chief has this to say:- “Jonathan loves Governor Amaechi so much that he (Amaechi) toyed and abuse the privilege. Amaechi’s highly unprecedented disrespect to the President and the presidency made some of us abandon him and embrace GDI. The GDI is the Tsunami that is sweeping the whole Rivers State, as the mouthpiece of the President in the state, and we wholeheartedly support it”.
On the contentious issue of who occupies the Government House as the next governor, come 2015, Chief Benibo-Fubara said in order to avoid unpleasant clashes in the state, the presidency should decide on the matter, adding that the next governor could come from anywhere, be it riverine or upland, as much as he or she can deliver and give the people good and sound governance. He stressed that all hands must be on deck to achieve a successful regime.
Chief Benibo-Fubara’s political career can not contain a full booklet, because his political background is decked with overwhelming success and pedigree. No doubt, the Goodluck Support Group (GSG) recently appointed him as a member of the National Advisory Council to the President. The group which is headed by Senator Ibrahim Mantu, CFR has quite some of the best brains and materials in the country.

Meanwhile, the presentation of Chief Ombo Benibo-Fubara as a recognized Chief is underway. The installation process which began with the family, compound and the greater House, made up of four (4) major war canoe houses has been concluded, pending the final presentation to the Tombia Community, which will finally give way to ascending to the Kalabari Se Kobiri, the highest Chieftaincy Council in Kalabari land.
