NUJ Boss Visits The Newswriter

For the first time since the inception of The Newswriter newspaper making waves on the newsstands, the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, took a walk to visit the medium’s office.
It was a thing of joy for members of the medium to receive the chairman, Mr. Opaka Dokubo and the Secretary, Mr. Stanley Job Staley, in their of office at No. 23 Hospital Road, witnessed leaders of news in Rivers state in their office.
The visit was part of inspection to verify the strength and office of the medium.
The chairman, Mr. Dokubo appreciated the office space and commended the consistency of The Newswriter on the Newsstand, asking the management and staff to keep up the good work they are doing.
He added that journalism in Port Harcourt is not doing bad but that he expected double performance in the years ahead.
The publisher and editor in chief of the Newswriter, Mr. Kenneth Amabipi in appreciation of the visit said that now that the union has seeing the office and confirmed the workers strength, having considered the caliber of journalists in place, he has no fear but believe that they will go to their drawing board just to come back to give him their convenient date to inaugurate The Newswriter as a chapel in the NUJ Rivers state council for the medium to feel belonged.
He explained that it is good to belong to the union as it is not good to stay alone in the profession.
He said though nothing stopped one to operate alone since bitter days are not predictable, one need to associate with union o that in the bitter days there will be need for so mw one top talk on your behalf.
He used the opportunity to assure the staff of better days ahead. ###
