NUJ PRESS WEEK MEDIA GAME: Private Media 1, Govt Media 2

The government media of the Nigerian Union of journalists (NUJ) Rivers State chapter has done it again by beating their counter part in the private media by 2-1. The match which was to mark the NUJ Rivers State chapter press week in all ramifications added colour to this year’s event, as the private media could not have a complete football team of eleven players to prosecute the match.
The government media was compelled to play ten men against the private media depleted side. This made key officers of the private media calling for those they know could change or make the side thick in action, mostly members of swan in the private media circle.
The Newswriter sports editor was franatically called to feature against the government media fortified side, knowing his crown ability as a coach.
Segun Precious of Radio Port Harcourt who until the match is a celebrated goal scorer of swan team, could not have his best displayed as it takes a player to play with a known player.
As a matter of fact, Segun Precious for the first time was compelled to play in the defence position.
Jim Odede Opiki for the first time featured in a football match in an NUJ organized competition, playing in the defence position. He showed his olden days skill to the admiration of fans and spectators as he was appreciated by all in the second half of the game.
In fact, it was Jim Odede Opiki’s masterly handling of the private media side that saved the side some embarrassment of goals from the government media team which was loaded and ready to demolish the private side.
The game came to an end with the private media losing to the government media team, which was ably saved by the very professional safe hands of the Tide sports editor, Gabriel Nwantanya, swan south-south national vice chairman. The game ended with the private side scoring first in the second half of the match. ###
