A Traditional Ruler in Rivers State, HRH Chief Owabie Tobin, the Eze Onumini I of Port Harcourt City LGA had emotionally worked out of the burial venue of Late Mrs. Charity Fyneface Oba, foster mother of Her Excellency, Dame Dr. Patience Jonathan following what he described as humiliation on Governor Amaechi by the President, Dr. Jonathan and his wife, Patience.
In a chat with journalists in Port Harcourt, HRH Owabie Tobin who confirmed the ugly scenario at Okrika said he was sad on the humiliation, Dr. Jonathan and his wife Patience meted on Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi the governor of River State.
According to him, President Jonathan failed to recognized governor Amaechi, the first citizen of Rivers State who wasted his time and money to attend the burial ceremony while making a speech at the burial ceremony stressing that, the only persons President Jonathan recognized were Dr. Peter Odili the former governor of Rivers State and Chief DSP Alamieyesiegha former governor of Bayelsa State but did not recognized Governor Amaechi who was also present.
The Royal father further disclosed that the wife of the President Dame Patience on her on part bye-passed governor Amaechi when she shook hands with personalities as a mark of respect and greeting stressing that the act exhibited by the President and his wife were disrespect and humiliation on the person of governor Amaechi, hence he angrily walked out of the burial ceremony and returned to Port Harcourt.
Chief Owabie who described the attitude as uncalled for and a thing capable of worsening the political crisis in Rivers State advised President Jonathan to mend fences with governor Amaechi, to enable him actualize his Presidential ambition in 2015 election. He also accused Chief Edwin Clerk for causing confusion in Rivers State.
According to him, Edwin Clerk is not a Rivers man, “I don’t know why he makes unnecessary comments against governor Amaechi. Like when he stated that Governor Amaechi should not consult President Jonathan before joining the APC and other unnecessary comments, I want to let him know that Amaechi has not declared for APC but still in PDP”.
The Royal father who declared his total support for Amaechi stressed that the people of Port Harcourt City LGA will always remain solidly behind governor Amaechi.
The Royal father who also recalled several utterances credited to Nyesom Wike against Amaechi urged him not to deceive Rivers people.
He commended General Yakubu Gowon, former head of states for his peace move on governor Amaechi and President Jonathan at the Port Harcourt centenary celebration in Port Harcourt. Stressing that such will go a long way to end the crisis in Rivers State.
The Royal father lauded governor Amaechi for renaming the Rivers State House of Assembly Tonye Harry Assembly after the late Rt. Hon. and his active participation at the burial ceremony. ###
