2011: HARVEST OF UPLIFTMENT AT ST. FRANCIS RUMUOKWUTA AS CHURCH HONOURS FAMILIES

If those Catholics and non-Catholics working in the vine-yard of the lord are to follow the trend and legacy left behind at St. Francis Catholic Church, Rumuokwuta, Port Harcourt, Rivers State. Nigeria and the Christendom will be better for it. The church, St. Francis has been described by many as one of the fastest growing Catholic Parish in the state. The credit goes to God Almighty, through the inspiration given to the immediate past parish priest of the church, Monsignor Charles Agu. The new parish priest, Monsignor Dr. Emmanuel Maru and his assistant, Rev. Fr. Chidi Dan Duru had no option but believe that St. Francis Catholic Church, Rumuokwuta, known as “Loving and Caring Family” is indeed what their name/slogan implies, when they showered the out-gone parish priest, Monsignor Agu with a latest “tear rubber” car on his sent-forth party day, for what he has done for God and humanity.
Little wonder, the chairman of 2011 Adult Harvest of Thanksgiving and upliftment, Mr. Viktor lbim Benibo opined that St. Francis, Rumuokwuta will in no distance time become a reference point for people. Mr. Benibo commended the parish priests, the harvest committee, and the good people of the church, the wonderful and excellent families that were honoured at the day’s harvest, in their respective endeavors. He, after harvesting unto the Lord with his friends, urged others, to work hard, to be honoured1 as hard work does not hide.
However, the reactions were different to Lady Eucharia Nnaji and Mrs. Doris Akhigbe, as they were honoured with Royal Ladies of St. Francis Catholic Church, Rumuokwuta. Royal lady Eucharia Nnaji, who felt highly honoured earlier on, as a lady of the Church, described St. Francis Catholic Church, as a church of God, where Holy Trinity dwells. A church, where the parishioners in a little space of time, were able to put up a befitting edifice, to the glory of the lord.
To Royal Lady Doris Akhigbe, a member of the 2011 Harvest Planning Committee and a recipient of the Royal Lady award see the church as a wonderful one, a church that God has been using to uplift parishioners at different level. A surprise she added when the honour came to her, as she and her fellow Royal Lady, Eucharia Nnaji, enjoined other women in the church, to keep faith with God, believing that one day, it will be their turn.
The joy of Mr. and Mrs. Modestus Elodi, knew no bound and were grateful to God Almighty for seeing it as a good thing for them to be chosen as one of the Best Couples of the year in St. Francis Catholic Church. Mr. Elodi prayed God to bless the priests and parishioners of St. Francis, for encouraging them to do more in their various endeavors. While Mr. & Mrs. Adonis E, another recipient of the Best Couples of the year honour, maintained that they will continue to appreciate be goodness of the lord upon them, in as much as God never seizes in blessing them.
All those that ere honoured, including Lady Cecilia Ndukwu, Mother of the day’s harvest, expressed sincere gratitude to God, he jovial and easy going parish priest, very Rev. Msgr. Dr. Emmanuel Maru, his vibrant and youthful assistant, Re . Fr. Chidi Dan Duru, the parishioners and members of the 2011 Adult Harvest Planning Committee, for a successful harvest.
