The chairman of the Rivers State chapter of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party PDP), Hon. Felix Obuah has alleged that Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi has siphoned N500,000,000 from the state confer to mobilize members of the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) from neighbouring States of Edo, Imo, Abia and others to welcome Muhammadu Buhari, Bola Tinubu and other Chieftains of the party to Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.
Hon. Obuah was speaking at the inauguration of LGA and Ward officers of the Grassroot Development Initiative (GDI) in the Eleme Local Government Area at the weekend.
The PDP chairman regretted the way and the manner in which Governor Amaechi is tampering with the treasury of the state.
He accused Amaechi of attempting to forment crisis by mobilizing APC members to Rivers State. Hon. Obuah said that if any crisis erupted in the state, Governor Amaechi should be blamed. “Amaechi should be held responsible if anything happens in Rivers State. Nobody should blame Mr. Mbu, the Commissioner for Police. Amaechi is using our state resources to fund APC”, Hon. Obuah alleged.
In his speech, the Deputy National Vice chairman of the ruling party, Prince Uche Secondus said that Governor Amaechi is already at the cross road and does not know what to do. According to Secondus, Governor Amaechi cannot decide the fate of Rivers State in 2015. He urged Rivers people to stand behind President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan to actualize his second ambition in 2015.
“The gift of Jonathan is a good thing. We must keep it. We will not allow Tinubus, Buharis to tell us what to do in Rivers State. God has given us the liberty. Do not sell your right because of money. No single person will be in the Government House to decide for us what to do”, Prince Secondus said.
He applauded the leadership style of the Supervising Minister for Education, Hon, Barr. Ezebunwo Nyesom Wike. Prince Secondus further enjoined all Rivers people to identify with the Grassroot Development Initiative (GDI).
Earlier in his speech, the Grand Patron of GDI, Barr. Wike slammed Governor Amaechi for what he calls “inconsistency”.
He said that no amount of Governor Amaechi’s antics would change the minds of Rivers people. Barr. Wike declared that Rivers people have taken position to stand by President Jonathan. And alleged that the embattled Governor, Rt. Hon. Amaechi is mobilizing support for APC. ###
