Editorial: Curbing Robbery In Port Harcourt

 

Of recent armed robbery and other related crimes are on increase. On daily basis there are lot of armed robbery attacks within the Port Harcourt metropolis and its environs.

Barely a month ago, criminals invaded a section of Eagle Island community and carted away properties including money. During the invasion, the armed robbers unleashed mayhem on the residents of the area.

Just last week a new layout in Aluu was attacked by thieves. Women were badly raped and also valuables were forcefully taken away.

On Monday a commercial bus was ambushed along the ever busy Ikwerre road near the popular Ikoku bus stop. The armed criminals inflicted multi injuries on passengers. The police should be equipped to combat the increasing crimes in Port Harcourt, the headquarters of Rivers State.

If nothing is being done, we have seen a situation where life will be short and brutal as in the case of Thomas Hobbian State of Nature. ###
