IAUE Gets 16 New Professors

Acting Vice Chancellor (Ag. VC)of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education (IAUE), Professor Okechuku Onuchuku has announced approval for the elevation of sixteen academic staff to the rank of Professors.

The announcement also include that of ten others who are to be promoted to the rank of Associate Professors (Readers) with monetary benefits.

Making the announcement on Friday at an emergency Senate Meeting, Onuchuku, who’s also the Chairman of Senate, said, “with this 16 new Professors, IAUE now has a total of 80 Professors”.

The Ag. VC, who expressed appreciation to the State Governor and Visitor to the University, Amaopusenibo Siminalayi Fubara, for the approval, appealed to those concerned to “provide pure and adequate academic leadership in their areas of discipline, and assume leadership positions if there are no professors in such areas”.

He advised them to encourage others who are behind them to achieve same feat instead of stagnating themselves.

Onuchuku described as unproductive anyone who is unable to train a staff who can take over when they are not around, adding that “mentorship is important and key in leadership”.

Those promoted to the rank of Professors in Faculty of Education are: Dr. Stanley Mandah (Department of Curriculum and Instructional Studies); Dr. Uriah Oboada Alafonye (Department of Educational Foundation; Dr. Ogidi Reuben Chimnonye (Department of Educational Psychology, Guidance and Counseling); Dr. Veronica Emem Okogbaa (Department of Educational Foundation); and Dr. Chikwe Christian Kelechi (Department of Educational Psychology, Guidance and Counseling).

Those in Faculty of Humanities are: Dr. Solomon Ikunga (Department of History and Diplomatic Studies); Dr. Chibuzor C. Nwobueze (Department of History and Diplomatic Studies); and Dr. Adesanya M. Olufunmilayo (Department of English and Communication Art).

In the Faculty of Natural and Applied Sciences are Dr. Womuru Edwin (Department of Physics); Dr. Marcus Abiye Clement (Department of Chemistry); Dr. Jack Nwineewi Dumka (Department of Chemistry); and Dr. Friday Kpee (Department of Chemistry).

Those upgraded in the Faculty of Social sciences are Dr. Vincent Nyewusira (Department of Political Science); Dr. Hyginus B. Oku (Department of Geography and Environmental Studies); and Dr. Kalagbor Kingsley (Department of Economics); while the only upgrade in Faculty of Vocational and Technical Education is Dr. Uka John A. I. of the Department of Technical Education.

The 10 Associate Professors are Dr. Nnokam Nyege Chinda of of the Faculty of Education, Department of Educational Foundation, with Faculty of Humanities producing Dr. Enwere Kathryn (Department of English and Communication Art); and Dr. Obodoegbulam Agi Otto (Department of Religious and Cultural Studies).

Faculty of Natural and Applied Sciences has Dr. Nwonu Nduka (Department of Mathematics); Dr. Lebari B. Gboeloh (Department of Biology); and Dr. Martins Adekambi (Department of Physics).

Faculty of Social sciences has four Readers comprising Dr. Elemanya A. Vincent (Department of Political Science); Dr. Anaele Adindu Augustina (Department of Economics); Dr. Felix Jebbin Maclean (Department of Economics; and Dr. Christian Akani of Department of the Political Scienc.
