The Executive Chairman of Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State, Dr. Samuel Nwanosike, has redeemed the N2million pledge made to Miss Ngozi Mary Kekwaaru, a good spirited Nigerian and Ikwerre born staff of Eko Hotel and Suites in Lagos State, Nigeria.
The Ikwerre Council boss had on Monday, 24th July, 2023, during the groundbreaking ceremony for the flag off of a secretariat for Government Recognized Traditional Rulers in Ikwerre LGA promised of rewarding Miss Kekwaru for her honesty.
Recall that Miss Kekwaaru had while on duty, returned misplaced $70,000 to a customer who had left his suitcase behind unknowingly in one of the hotel’s suites.
The move had attracted wide commendations and goodwill to Miss Kekwaaru.
The Kelga Boss, who was represented by the Secretary of Council, Godwin Lulu, at the Council Headquarters in Isiokpo, weekend, expressed delight that the lady returned such huge amount of money at this hard time.
Nwanosike added that her act of honesty has so far stood her out as a good ambassador of the Ikwerres, and Rivers State at large.
He noted that her attitude showed that Ikwerre people are God fearing, reliable and not thieves.
In her response, Miss Kekwaaru thanked the Chairman, Government and entire people of Ikwerre LGA for the honour accorded her and promised to keep flying the flag of integrity high.
A lecturer at the University of Port Harcourt and elder brother to the recipient, Dr. Menakai Kekwaaru, described the gesture by the Ikwerre Council boss as a motivation to the family and Ikwerre people as a whole.
He thanked Omademe Community of Ikwerre LGA for giving them a worthy wife whom he said gave birth to children of integrity.
The Principal Secretary to the Executive Chairman of Ikwerre LGA, who hails from same community with the lady, Bright Agbovu, expressed joy for the magnanimity his boss extended to Rundele people, especially his family members.
Agbovu further praised the Executive Chairman of Ikwerre LGA for always marketing Ikwerre Ethnic Nationality in all ramifications.
