The chairman of the Kalabari chapter of the Ijaw Youth Council, IYC, Prince Sobrasua Odum has scored high the amnesty programme initiated by the Governor of Rivers State, Chief Barr. Nyesom Ezenwo Wike.
Speaking with newsmen in Port Harcourt on Monday, the Kalabari IYC boss described the Wike’s amnesty programme as successful and a right step in a right direction.
Prince Odum noted that the amnesty programme was highly succeessful in the Bakana community in the Degema Local Government Area. According to the Kalabari Youth activist, the amnesty programme has brought total peace and orderliness in the community. Prince Odum revealed that no fewer than two hundred (200) youths from the Bakana community embraced the amnesty which he said has placed the community on the path of speedy development.
“Today there is total and absolute peace in Bakana. The youths have embraced the amnesty programme. And everybody is happy and moving freely in the community without any molestation”, Prince Odum said.
The Kalabari IYC boss had earlier felicitated with Hon. Farah Dagogo on his electoral victory in the Appeal Court, Prince Odum observed that with Hon. Farah Dagogo in the Rivers State House of Assembly RSHA, the Degema constituency will be well represented. He described Hon. Farah as a good politician and applauded him for his doggedness in reclaiming his mandate.
Prince Odum prayed God to shower His blessings on Hon. Farah and give him King Solomon’s wisdom to represent the Degema constituency well in the RSHA.
Meanwhile the Kalabari IYC Chief has commended the Amanyanabo of Bakana community, HRH O.O. Odum VIII for initiating policies and programmes that will ensure greater peace in the community.
Prince Odum particularly thanked the monarch for constituting Peace and Reconciliation Committee headed by an erudite opinion leader, Lolo Berepiki.
Prince Odum expressed hope that considering the caliber of people in the committee, the outcome and their findings will reposition the Bakana community.
The Kalabari IYC chairman pleaded with the sons and daughters of Bakana to rally round the monarch to succeed adding that in no distant time Bakana will experience massive development. ###
