Maritime Modern Corruption: Minister Amaechi Inflicts More Troubles On Riverine Communities

Indications have proven that the federal ministry of transportation under the administration of Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi rather than helping to reducing the obvious hunger and inflation in the country, is poised to cause more hunger and ofcourse hyper inflation in the country when commuters are now his target to pay exorbitant fare on every trip they make.

Monday morning there were skirmishes between the Nigeria Union of Maritime Workers and the travelers from the Ngo, New road axis of Andoni Local Government when the fare to and fro Ngo/New Road was suddenly increased by the Maritime Union workers from N500 to N600

The sudden increase had raised the anger of the masses who are not even pleased with the earlier fare of five hundred naira on a journey of less than ten minutes, hence the brouhaha between the masses and the transport union.

On enquiry into the misunderstanding between the masses and the transport union, The Newswriter correspondent gathered that the federal ministry of transportation through the Federal Inland Revenue Services (FIRS) have ordered such increase in fare against the Nigeria masses to effect a tax on every travelers, a situation that was not pleasing to the masses.

To ascertain the claims of the maritime union, Andoni branch, the situation remain different in Okrika routs as its fare remain at three hundred naira from Okrika to Marine Base, even as Bonny-Port Harcourt routs stand at one thousand nine hundred naira.

If the claims by the Andoni chapter of the maritime union is anything to go by, then its implication is that riverine communities that are not linked on roads stand to face many troubles in the hands of the ineffective and corrupt federal government, especially as the yuletide approaches.

The citizenry of riverine communities particularly Andoni in Rivers State are calling on the federal government to immediately rescind her attempt to subject the masses to an unwanted troubles.  ###
