Andoni Ward 3 Seeks Govt Intervention On Project Implementation

The government of Andoni Local Council has been called upon to urgently come to the aid of communities in ward 3 of the local government area by embarking on some live touching projects that have adversely affected the indigenes, since any further delay in helping the people would spell doom on the communities.

The honourable commissioner in the Rivers State House of Assembly Service Commission, RSHASC, Hon. Paul Ayagwung made the call while playing host to the chairman, Caretaker Committee, Engr. Ofiks Kagbang of Andoni Local Government  last Sunday who was on a project inspection tour on the local government main land Communities in preparation of the governor’s visit, December 6th.

According to Hon. Paul Ayagwung the ward is one of the viable and largest political words in the LGA, with numerous communities, hence requires government assistance to enable indigenes appreciates government concern as well as have relief from unnecessary pressures.

Construction of public conveniences; electrification and potable borehole water for Isi-Ama Community; electrification, road network, equipment of primary healthcare centre amongst others for Agwut-Obolo town, headquarters of the word and completion of a linking foot bridge, public conveniences, electrification, equipment of health centres,  road network and potable drinking water and employment of self help teachers at a community school established at Lek-Okponile for Ilotombi town.

Others include potable drinking water and provision of soft loans and equipment of health centres for Oyorokoto, Otu-udong, Okokiri-Obolo, Ibot-Okpon and other communities in the ward.

The Commissioner who recognized the lofty responsibility of the council, however, urged the council boss to within his capability intervene to quell the sufferings of indigenes of the affected communities and promised the wards loyalty and commitment to delivering the ward for the Peoples Democratic Party, candidates in the December 10th 2016 re-run elections noting that in ward 3 no goliath shall surface without being defeated.

Responding, the Chairman Caretaker Committee, Engr. Ofiks Kabang while admonishing the electorates and PDP supporters to come out on December 10 to cast their votes for all PDP candidates promised that ward 3 would not be forgotten in the scheme of things in Andoni.

The council boss who described ward 3 as a pillar in the centre of a building said, the ward’s position and role is such that his administration would do all within his powers to remember in project implementation.

The Chairman used the occasion to announced the rehabilitation of potable drinking water by the council for Oyorokoto Community which has since been put to use and promised to replicate the council’s efforts in other communities of the ward.

He also told the mammoth crowd that a Marine Police division has been awarded for Oyorokoto Community while a police post has been approved for Ilotombi Community.

Meanwhile, high point of the chairman’s visit was the commissioning of an eight rooms Public Conveniences rehabilitated by the Commissioner in the Rivers State House of Assembly Service Commission, Hon. Paul Ayagwung for the community’s use.

Present at the occasion were supervisor for Works and Transport, Andoni LGA, Hon. Adams B. Utong, Hon. Jacobs Eneotu, a former councilor of the ward, Hon. Jonah Utong, all zonal leaders/representatives of the ward as well as the council press secretary, James Mgboineme-Owaji who is also from the at ward.  ###
