Factional Rivers NYCN Gets New Officers

flowing-pic-42The Rivers State chapter of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, NYCN has elected its new officers to pilot the affairs of the council in the next four (4) years. Comrade Bariere Thomas was elected as the chairman.

Speaking at the event the immediate past chairman of the council, Comrade (Amb) Kingsley Ibanichuka tasked the new executive officers to unite all factions in the council and create an enabling environment for youth empowerment and development.

He urged them to correct the wrongs of the past, adding that they should be wary of political and economic oppressors who are bent on destroying the future of the youths in forging a common front.

Comrade Ibanichuka further called on them to reach out to officials of the Rivers State Ministry of Youths Development, youths in various communities and the government of the day for a robust relationship.

The elected officers include: Abiye S. George, (Dep chairman), Boma Jeremiah (Secretary) and Nengi Maobuye Obu as PRO amongst others.

In his speech the newly elected chairman Comrade Thomas promised that his team will engage government at all levels and bring to bear policies and programmes that will bring good fortunes for youths in the state.

Also speaking a former S.A on Students Affairs in Rivers State, Hon. Matthew Osika advised the newly inaugurated exco to reunite the Rivers Youths and maintained that the good legacies left behind is sustained.

“Partner with government and relevant organs to achieve success and progress. There is no way the state government can work in isolation and there is no way the youth body also can work in isolation. Collaborate to attain greatness”, Osika concluded.  ###
